TIPS FOR TRIPS:

  • Hiking – If you do not want to go far away, this is the right type of walk for you. There is a picturesque pond not far from the town that is surrounded by vineyards from all sides. You can just listen the sounds of nature and you will feel like in a dream.
  • On bicycles – We recommend you to try the bicycle track „Through Andre Region“ that starts directly in Hustopece and continues through Velke Pavlovice Region. It is about 19km long. You can taste the wine of local winemakers on ths track.

Tips for Trips to Surroundings

Mikulov – 23km

  • Castle – Former castle of Liechtenstein and later Dietrichstein families, situated on a noticeable cliff and creating a distinct dominant of Mikulov.
  • Svaty kopecek (Holy Hill) - Svaty kopecek is another noticeable natural dominants of Mikulov. Nature preserve has been established at this area because of presence of protected and rare species of plants and animals. You can find holy shrine of Saint Sebastian on the top of Svaty kopecek as well as bell tower and other sacral building of the stations of the cross.

PROTECTED LANDSCAPE AREA MORAVIAN KARST – 57km

Moravian karst is one of the most interesting karst areas in Central Europe. There are more than 1,100 caves within the whole area. Five of them are open to the public.

  • Punkevni cave – possibility to make a trip on the underground Punkva River
  • Macocha chasm – the biggest chasm of this type in the Czech Republic
  • Katerinska cave – unique rod stalagmites
  • Balcarka cave – rich and colourful stalactite and stalagmite decoration
  • Sloupsko-sosuvske caves – big corridors and underground chasms

Registered in the UNSECO list of world cultural heritage.

DOLNI AND HORNI VESTONICE – 13 km

Dolni as well as Horni Vestonice are situated at the foot of Pavlovske Hills, on the shore of Novomlynske reservoirs at the vicinity of protected landscape area Palava.
They are famous because of archaeological discoveries as fro example Vestonicka Venus.

NEMCICKY – 9 km

Nemcicky are located at boundary between Hana and Slovacko. The village offers various sport activities both during summer and winter.

POUZDRANY –  11.5 km

Pouzdrany savannah – national nature preserve. Unique biotope of turf savannah on steep grassy hill slides, presence of thermophilic species of flowers and protected savannah animals.

PROTECTED LANDSCAPE AREA PALAVA – 16.5 km

Pavlovske Hills surrounded by fertile vineyards, white limestone rocks, oak groves and castle ruins belongs to the most famous and the most frequently visited places in the Czech Republic.

  • Ruin of New Castle (Neuhaus) – it is situated behind the Horni Vestonice village. Only remains of fundamental walls of vast medieval fortification from 14th century are preserved.
  • Ruin of Divci Castle (Devicky, Divci Castles, Maidberk) – it is situated to the west from Pavlov village about 1km from the highest hill of Palava – Devin. It is a dominant of the eastern end of Pavlovske Hills ridge.
  • Ruin of Sirotci Castle (Rossenstein) – it is situated above Klentnice village to the north from Mikulov.

WATER RESERVOIR NOVE MLYNY – 11 km

System of three water reservoirs above Palava – Horni Musovska, Stredni Vestonicka, Dolni Novomlynska – on Dyje River.
It used to be the vastest bottomland area in the Central Europe. It has been changed radically by development of water resources that tried to protect the area against recurrent floods.
